Walter Pike
Walter Pike was born in Port Elizabeth and went to school at St George’s Prep, Union High School and St Andrew’s College. He grew up in the Sunday’s River Valley where he farmed and played Polo. As Club Captain at the PE Polo Club he represented the Eastern Cape and Border at Polocrosse.
After giving up farming he joined Ford Motor Company, working at 44 Albany Road. However Ford soon sent him to Cape Town and then Johannesburg and Pretoria. He was responsible for Ford Advertising, but left to join an intertenational advertisisng agency, a stint as national advertising manager at Nissan South Africa was again followed by returning to the Ad industry as stratgey planning and client services director at what was then one of South africa’s hottest ad agencies.
Walter is the founder of The Digital Marketing Academy which offers courses in digital marketing in association with the AAA School of Advertising where he is currently the Head of Faculty: Marketing and Advertising.
In January 2010, Walter relaunches PiKE | The Integrated New Marketing Agency with The Digital Marketing Academy as a subsidiary with the AAA School of Advertising for whom it will train its Degree students with a Digital Marketing Specialisation as an anchor client. Its main target market is the marketing and advertising community of South Africa.
He is on the academic liaison committee of the Chief Marketing Officers Council whose head office is in the United Sates.
Walter is a well known public speaker, speaking on the effect of the internet on society and the changed process of marketing.
